Employee Self Service- Dynamics AX 2012
What can your employees do for you? A lot, actually. Are you surprised? Employee Self Service is a feature included with the Enterprise Portal for Dynamics AX 2012 that can help make the Human Resources role better and allow the employee control over their personal information. Keep reading to find out more.
Employee Self Service (ESS) is an employee portal. It has all sorts of information that the employee can keep up to date that helps the Human Resources function of the business. Employees can manage personal information such as phone numbers and emails. They can also manage their development, personal goals, competencies, courses they are registered in, and benefits.
To update information, the employee navigates to Enterprise portal and selects “HOME”. It will bring them to the page above. They can then select the hyperlink to update. Example: ‘Competencies’. Once on the competencies form they can update any of the related information which includes skills, previous experience, education, certificates, positions of trust, and project work. Everything updated in Enterprise Portal will feed back into AX under the user profile. For instance, if I added AX experience under skills, it would then show up in the AX rich client under Competencies > Skills.
It is very important to remember to add the ‘Employee’ profile to the user. To do this, navigate to System administration in the AX rich client, under the common area > Users, select User Profiles. Scroll to find the ‘Employee’ profile, select the ‘Add Users’ button. Select the user and company to define them in > Apply > and Save.
